Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi
The Kumar brothers play the Sharma brothers in this 1958 film. We see Ashok Kumar, Kishore Kumar and Anoop Kumar together in Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi. Here they are Brijmohan, Manmohan and Jagmohan Sharma respectively.
Brijmohan is a boxer. Jagmohan is an electrical engineer. Kishore plays Manmohan the mechanic in a garage. The three brothers together run this garage.
Brijmohan dislikes women and convinces his brothers to stay away from female company at all costs. He resists women to such a degree that even a picture of a female is forbidden.
Enter Madhubala as Renu, a customer to their garage. Renu and Manmohan have an unpleasant first meet. Although Manmohan repairs her car she leaves forgetting to pay him. He later discovers that she has left her purse in the garage. Determined to return the purse and get the payment for his labour, he decides to meet her.
Somehow, he lands up in her house. As a servant spots him he runs away. Furthermore, he sees some men murdering someone and dumping the dead body.
As further incidents unfold, Manmohan starts to fall for Renu. Also his brother Jagmohan is attracted towards Renu’s friend Shila. On the other hand, Renu’s father arranges her to be married. She is going to be betrothed to the same murderer whom Manmohan saw.
Finally, the climax comes when the bad guys abduct Renu and her father. A further twist comes when we discover why Brijmohan hates women. He feels that Kamini, the woman he had loved had betrayed him and married someone else. However the truth was Kamini was in the same clutches. As she comes to know of Renu’s plight she runs to Brijmohan to rescue them.
In conclusion, all differences get resolved. Brijmohan realizes his mistake and takes Kamini back. Jagmohan gets to marry Shila and Manmohan has a happy ending with Renu.
