It is rare to find brothers excel in the same art together – like Uttam Kumar and Tarun Kumar did. The elder brother, Uttam’s charisma and personality landed him the lead roles naturally. The younger sibling Tarun equally excelled in the supporting roles.
While both the brothers worked together in the Bengali films for decades, they were more as companions than competitors. While Tarun knew his dada’s glamour was legendary, Uttam appreciated the hard work and superb acting that was the forte of his brother.

Raja Moshai Uttam Kumar needs a man who is intelligent enough for a good conversation and not to humble for a game of chess. Jagjeeban Tarun Kumar is his companion all the while. After the ‘resurrection’ and return of Rajamoshai as the Sanyasi, we are glad to see Jagjeeban – he still has his intellect on and joins him on his new endeavor.

This film has almost equal weightage to both the brothers in terms of screen time. But Tarun Kumar rocks in this film as the compassionate Father who stands up for this man. His heart touching performance won him the award for the Best Supporting Actor.
