If anything is better than a hot omelette, then that is a cheese omelette. It is quick and easy to make. A favourite among bachelors and students who live away from home, it is also a great dish to serve your guests.
Cheese omelette can be made with some variations. Here is a simple recipe.
All you need is an egg, little onion and chilli, black pepper, salt, and a little of tomato sauce, soya sauce and cheese. We can use any kind of cheese that is available in your market, like cheese spread or cubes. You can also use cheddar or mozzarella. You can try the omelette with different cheese and decide which tastes best to you. Here we have used Amul cheese spread.
In addition, you can put finely cut tomatoes, capsicum and mushroom. If you have precooked or left over chicken, some also like to shred and add it too. These additions are optional.Ingredients
Egg – 1
Onion – 2 tsp finely cut or as per taste
Chilli – Half tsp finely cut or as per taste
Black pepper – One-fourth tsp
Salt – One-fourth tsp
Tomato sauce – 1 tsp
Soya sauce – 1 tsp
Cheese spread – 1 tsp
(For cheese cubes or mozzarella, grate the cheese and add 2 tsp or more as per taste)
Mix all these ingredients well and beat for 1 minute. Keep aside.
Heat a flat frying pan, and then put 2 tsp vegetable oil. Reduce the flame to medium or low. Put the egg mixture and fry it like a regular omelette. Move the pan so that the egg mixture spreads around the pan. After about a minute the side will be cooked. Flip it and fry for another 45 seconds to 1 minute.
It tastes best when hot but you can also carry it for lunch. Try it with two eggs for a big, cheesy double omelette.
